It’s John Muir Day on April 21, which is the anniversary of the birth of the acclaimed Scots born US conservationist pioneer. John was born in Dunbar, East Lothian, in 1838. He left Scotland as a child with his family to move to America but he was said to have always remembered his birth country with fondness. Muir died in California in 1914.
Today, Muir’s name is remembered in the cross-Scotland walking and cycling route, the John Muir Way. Find out more about how to complete the route with support by Highland Transfers.
