Walk the West Highland Way

The West Highland Way is the original – and most popular – long-distance walking trail in Scotland. The 96-mile trail from Central Scotland to the Scottish Highlands journeys through a fantastic scenery. It’s a great route for a self-guided, multi-day walking holiday, as well as a self-guided running or cycling holiday.

The walk starts close to the northern limits of Glasgow, at the leafy suburb of Milngavie, and passes through a lovely country park before heading alongside a hill range called the Campsie Fells. The West Highland Way route also passes close to Glengoyne Distillery, which we highly recommend you visit.

As the trail continues, it takes walkers through beautiful villages and an impressive and ever-changing landscape. You’ll walk alongside Loch Lomond, below the mountain of Ben Lomond, and visit places such as Glen Falloch, Strathfillan, Rannoch Moor and Glencoe, where the majestic mountains that you will see (but not climb) include Buachaille Etive Mor. The West Highland Way finishes in Fort William,  near the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.
