  • Leave Inverness, passing the castle and riding through pleasant parkland.
  • Head towards the Caledonian Canal, riding along it briefly as you navigate out of the city.
  • Soon after, you join the Great Glen Way proper, where the adventure truly begins.
  • Follow very well-waymarked trails leading you south through stunning Highland scenery.

Day 2 Fort Augustus → Laggan

Corrieyairack Pass • Historic military road
  • From the moment you set off, day two feels completely different to day one.
  • Immediately enter a new type of terrain as you begin climbing the legendary Corrieyairack Pass.
  • Ride an old 1700s military road<, taking you right up and over the pass.
  • The climb is often steep but manageable, depending on your bike setup.
Day 3 Laggan → Loch Rannoch

  • Day three brings yet another completely different landscape.
  • Ride through vast, remote scenery on some fantastic gravel roads.
  • The sense of isolation and scale makes this a truly special day.

  • Arrive in Killin, an ideal lunch stop, especially near the waterfalls at the southern end of town.
  • After Killin, ride quickly along an old railway path, allowing fast progress.

  • Descend through twisting forest paths towards Aberfoyle.
